Reflection 13
Today I had a long day ahead of me and I was rushing, running late. I was nervous, stressed, and going through all this depression. Last night I was in the hospital all night because I popped my right clavicle, and I’m frustrated because I know I have a lot of work and things to do to get prepared for Wednesday. I woke up and got dressed very professionally, and didn’t like my hair at all. I already had all the drinks, food, and candy I was suppose to buy for my students, because of the succeeded scrapbooks, I had promised them our own little party during family time. I bought them a 12 can box of soda, which works perfectly for 10 students, and two teachers. I bought three big bags of chips, chocolate, and blow pops. I had everything in my trunk so I went to wheeler and ran up to that office. In the office I got all my tings organized and I help get things ready for SAS. After an hour Rameka and I both drove to my school and go to the Senior Internship Luncheon. That was why I was all dressed up, and I was nervous because I didn’t know how things were going to go. We arrived, and Rameka seemed to know a lot of people, and the place was decorated fabulous. It was very elegant and nice, all the seniors were dressed up and there were a lot of interesting looking people. I sat with my English teacher Ms. A, and she did Summer Bridge, so she and Rameka were talking up a storm the whole time. I was glad that she was just engaged, conversing with a lot of people and everyone was saying hi. The food was great and we had a good time. As soon as it was over it was time to head to SAS, and we left. When we arrived at the Met, we had a lot of things to take out from her car and mine. She had made a cake for each family, and we had materials and snacks to bring inside. I also had to bring in my food and beverages for my family. My feet were killing by that time also because I had on my high heels. When students began to arrive, I took them outside, where they wanted to be to play. After everyone was at SAS, we had our ASM (All School Meeting), and then we departed to our family time. During our family time, the 8thgraders and teachers filled out two surveys, 9th grade wills, and Thank you card. We had a bag that had everyone in that family’s name in it, someone had to pick out of it and whom ever classmate or teacher you got, your thank you card goes to. It was so nice and creative because students were writing something special, a note alongside, and coloring it. After family time, everyone had to go back out and eat their cake, talk, have fun, take pictures, etc. SAS was over, and at the very end as a community we talked about everyone’s feelings and thoughts about Summer Bridge. It was really amazing some of things that students and teachers said. I wanted to share something myself, being part of the program for a year and all but I was too nervous. After that was over, we said our goodbyes, but we knew that we would see each other one last time at graduation. That’s where we are all going to cry together, tears of happiness. I love Summer bridge, and I’m grateful and thankful that I had the opportunity to do this program, and also for my internship so I can share with everyone my experience, hard work, dedication, and also how special the program really is.
